Description :

Supervisors in this unit group supervise and co-ordinate the activities of workers who fabricate, assemble and inspect mechanical and metal products, such as aircraft and aircraft parts, heavy trucks, buses, trailers, motor vehicle engines, transmissions, heating equipment, commercial refrigeration and similar metal products. They are employed by a wide variety of manufacturing companies.

Main duties :

  • Supervise, co-ordinate and schedule activities of workers who assemble and inspect products such as aircraft, buses, heavy trucks, transmissions, automobile engines and refrigeration and heating equipment
  • Establish methods to meet work schedules and co-ordinate work activities with other departments
  • Resolve work problems and recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality
  • Requisition materials and supplies
  • Train staff in job duties, safety procedures and company policies
  • Recommend personnel actions such as hirings and promotions
  • Prepare production and other reports
  • May set up machines and equipment.

Mechanical Engineering Technology 

Program Length: 3 years

Program Objectives

The purpose of this program is to train technicians to carry out the technical design of different components and mechanical systems, to plan manufacturing and to take care of quality control. Mandatory competencies (23) from the specific training category aim to ensure the versatility of graduates and to enable them to work equally in the fields of design and manufacturing. The category entitled elective competencies (7 competencies) aims at the development of competencies in the particular fields such as: development of manufacturing range, programming of machines with numerical control, design and the manufacturing of tools, industrial lines and mechanical systems with their frame, the manufacturing of prototypes, quality control, the planning of the maintenance of machinery, the organization and the coodination of production, technological survey and research and development. This program will contribute to the development and training of students in the following capacities: to include/understand and apply all directives in relation to their work (to establish interpersonal relationships, to work as a team and to adapt to changes), to plan and organize their work with an emphasis on productivity (accuracy, precision, quality, time limits), good judgement, communicate orally and written in French, to bring in new ideas and solutions, defend a project or an idea, use production equipment, to have continuous improvement and to learn individually.

Techniques de transformation des matériaux composites

Program Objectives

Au terme de sa formation, l’élève sera en mesure d'effectuer des tâches de planification, de coordination et d'optimisation de la production, de conception et de fabrication d'outillage, de contrôle de la qualité et de soutien technique, dans un contexte de santé et sécurité au travail et dans le respect des normes en matière d'environnement.

De plus, il sera en mesure de déterminer les méthodes de fabrication , de mettre au point de l'outillage et des gabarits ainsi que de fabriquer des moules et des prototypes dans un contexte de préproduction. Il contribuera au développement de nouveaux procédés, formulations et produits. Il collaborera également à l'implantation des programmes d'assurance qualité et à leur suivi, effectuera des essais et des études et produira des rapports concernant les résultats de leurs travaux.
